The Kerrang stage opened with a memorable performance from the Blitz Kids – setting the scene with an explosive entrance that saw a small audience rapidly swell after just the first few opening chords, with many keen to see what this band – who seem to be taking 2014 by storm – have to offer.
Blitz Kids opening track – the almighty All I Want Is Everything, immediately grabbed the crowd’s attention and quickly had everyone up and chanting, providing a rousing start to the day.
The enthusiastic reception visibly lifted the band and the charismatic front man Joe James, who is possessed of a truly remarkable voice, played the crowd with professional ease – a result of the relentless touring that this band have undertaken to get them to this point.
Singles Run For Cover and On My Own from the recent release (and excellent) The Good Youth were delivered with power and confidence, combining strong harmonies, powerful bass and strong drum rhythms. Never Die, taken from 2012s Never Die EP was received with equal zealor.
Keep Swinging – a more pop-influenced but very melodic and catchy track had everyone singing along and Sold My Sole with its heavy bass and infectious big chorus will without a doubt be a sure fire hit across this year’s festival scene.
This performance clearly highlighted why Blitz Kids have gained such a staunch following, and one that will continue to gather momentum this year – a tight, well produced but highly enjoyable delivery from start to finish.
Blitz Kids give everything they have to every performance, and strive to make each delivery their best possible. They genuinely appreciate the recognition that they are finally achieving – and deservedly so from all of the hard work they have put in to get them here.
I hope 2014 sees Blitz Kids rise to the top of the music scene – talent like this should be recognized, championed and rewarded!
