Interview: Rob Lynch – Slam Dunk South 2014

Rob Lynch-11We had a chat with Rob Lynch at Slam Dunk South, here is what he had to say
The New Transmission: For anyone that isn’t familiar with you could you tell us a little bit about yourself and you sound?

Rob Lynch: My name is Rob Lynch, Im 28 years old and I come from a small market town in Lincolnshire called Stamford, but I currently reside in London. My favourite snack is Crunchy Cheetos and my favourite film is Stand By Me. I play honest acoustic pop music with roots in punk and folk.

TNT: Your début album “all these nights in bars will somehow save my soul” set for release later this year, what can we expect from the album?

Rob: You can expect 12 songs that come from the heart, broaching the subjects of life, love and death, presented to you in an uplifting manner.

TNT: How was the production of the album different to that of previous EPs?

Rob: I had more concentrated time to spend on the album, so we were able to go deep inside of the songs but also give them more time to breathe and grow. It was an intensive, liberating experience.

TNT: You’ve just wrapped up your tour with Charlie Simpson, how did that go?

Rob: It was great! Im actually listening to his album right now on the plane to Houston, so this question has caught me at the right time. It was only a week of shows, but it was a lot of fun. Hes a great guy, as are the rest of his band, and he has a really accommodating audience.

TNT: Do you have any favourite places to play?

Rob: I love playing in Hamburg! It feels like a home away from home. The people there are so welcoming and receptive. London shows are always a lot of fun, and I also like playing in Stamford, as it allows me to get a bit nostalgic.

TNT: Who are your musical influences?

Rob: I admire artists from all different genres, so I think influence and inspiration can come from anywhere. Some of my favourite artists are Bruce Springsteen, Elliott Smith, Blink 182 and Sigur Ros.

TNT: What can we expect from you in the next 12 months?

Rob: I m about to embark on the Vans Warped Tour in the USA for the next 2 months, when I get back Ill be gearing up for my album release and then Ill be touring in support of that for the next year!
