Live Review: Verses – The Hope and Ruin, Brighton – 4th December 2015

Jason Danzelman – Vocals/Guitar
Joe Welsh – Guitar
Dan Freese – Drums
Joe Gale – Bass/Vocals
Brighton rockers, Verses played their first hometown gig in almost two years, due to their relentless touring, at The Hope and Ruin on 4th December.
The venue – though small was filled with the bands staunch supporters including many friends and family and a rousing reception greeted the band.
This energetic band displaying their distinctive and impressive sound played a strong set which defied the compact setting. The clear, melodious tones of vocalist Jason Danzelman packed a punch, against the strong, pounding drum rhythms of Dan Freese. The accomplished bass of Joe
Gale was supported by the catchiest of guitar riffs from Joe Welsh.
These guys successfully mixed softer deliveries with anthemic sing-along tracks, with songs that so obviously have a lot of meaning to the them, backed by the eager and supportive crowd.
This long overdue return to their hometown highlighted just how far this band have come since 2010 with an accomplished and emotional set that will undoubtedly see them out on the road again in 2016.
