Ones To Watch: D At Sea

d at seaOver the last couple of years Doyle Perez aka. D at Sea has become a YouTube sensation with his acoustic covers of hardcore bands including the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Of mice and Men, Parkway Drive, New Found glory and even Usher, with his covers having had over 3.5 million hits on YouTube.

The young acoustic hardcore singer/songwriter from Brisbane, Australia takes songs and makes them almost unrecognizable to the originals, such as his cover of ‘This Sadness Will Never End‘ by Bring Me The Horizon could be a completely different song, it is full of pure, raw emotion and he gives a whole new meaning to the lyrics. His undeniable talent has allowed him to tour with some of hardcore’s biggest names, from his covers alone.

He has also collaborated with fellow Australian singer/songwriter and main support on his current tour, Millie Tizzard, on Three cheers for Sweet revenge by Mayday Parade. Their voices blend perfectly and could not compliment each other better, both with slightly husky tones their vocals are easy on the ear an again full of emotion.

In March D at Sea released his début EP, ‘Unconscious’, available for download on iTunes, consisting of 5 original songs and eases us nicely into his own material; it reached #18 in the Australian chart. The album proving that music doesn’t have to be complex, mainly features unobtrusive acoustic guitars and simplistic vocal layers.

D at Sea is currently on a tour of Australia and will be until March. We hope he will travel over to the UK in the near future as there is no one else out there making music quite like him
