British indie pop band Keane have announced that after 16 years making music they are to part ways. Famous for tracks such as ‘Somewhere only we know’ and ‘Bedshaped’ the band have released four albums and an EP since their careers began. Throughout the years and a few line up changes the band still managed to achieve some great things. Their first album Hopes and Fears went nine times platinum in the UK and debuted at number one in the UK albums chart.
According to sources Tom Chaplin the bands vocalist wishes to launch a solo career as well as the rest of the band having other musical projects in the works. Apparently there is no rift between the band and it was a mutual decision. Tim Rice-Oxley the bands songwriter is going on to team up with some big industry names for future work. A spokesperson for the band has announced that the band intend to release a greatest hits album which will bring some closure to this chapter in their lives.
